Youth’s body found on Brahmagiri riverbed
Puri: The Brahmagiri police on Tuesday recovered the body of a youth from riverbed. The youth was yet to be identified as his killers had brutally smashed his face with a heavy stone. The villagers of Gadakokal were shocked to see the dead body while they had gone to the river in the morning and informed the police about the body. The police suspected that more than one person probably brought the victim to this place and then killed him.
Villagers beat attacking bear to death
Baleswar: An adult male bear was allegedly beaten to death by irate villagers of Baulani under the Simulia police station after it attacked two persons, including a woman, in early Tuesday morning. The woman was admitted in the Simulia healthcare centre while the other injured person was referred to the Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital. The bear after being hurt by the villagers fell in a pond. The forest staff of Kupari under the Oupada range recovered the dead bear from the pond and sent it for postmortem.
Girls protest water scarcity in hostel
Baleswar: The girl inmates of a hostel of the FM College here running
from a private rented building staged a dharna on Monday alleging
that adequate water was not being supplied to their hostel.
They alleged that although they had been suffering over last three
months due to want of adequate supply of water, yet the authorities
didn’t provide them any relief from the problem despite repeated
pleading with the hostel superintendent. Principal of the college Dr
Tarini Chandra Kar said, “The inmates who are staying in a private
arrangement are facing scarcity of water for some time but steps are
being taken to address the difficulties.”
Amin caught taking bribe in Bargarh
Bargarh: The Vigilance police arrested contractual Amin
Nityananda Ghadial working in the office of the Settlement Officer,
Bargarh for demanding bribe of Rs12, 000 from one Birendra Kumar Bhoi of Bhatli to prepare a field verification report in the matter of
mutation of his ancestral land and submit the report to
the Assistant Settlement Officer, Bargarh for issuing
ROR in Bhoi’s favour. During investigation, a trap was laid
on the Amin as per the complaint of Bhoi. Ghadial was
caught red handed by the Vigilance team while accepting the bribe
in his office.
