The police here conducted a high-tech operation to recover stolen mobile phones from a racket active in the district.
In June, more than 413 complaints were filed with the local police stations regarding the theft of mobile phones. Out of them, 201 mobile phones were recovered worth Rs 20 lakh by the police and were returned to their original owners.
The phone owners had lost any hope of being able to find their phones; however, due to Jharsuguda police's high tech drive, the thieves were nabbed, and the phones were recovered from them.
They conducted an exhibition at the police headquarters to showcase the recovered phones and return them to their rightful owners. The police arrested four accused in this regard. About 50 mobile handsets were recovered from outside the State.
