The dead body of an unidentified girl, aged around 20 years, was found inside a wrap at the root of a tree near Marugotha, 8 km from Athagarh, on Friday morning.
The police recovered the body and sent it to the SDH for autopsy. Besides, a scientific team visited the spot and revealed that after killing the girl at any other place, the miscreants tied the body in the tree. The death of the girl occurred at least 10 hours ago at about 9 am on Friday.
The irate locals alleged that due to lack of proper patrolling by the police, the miscreants have made the area their hub and dare to commit offences easily.
