At least two persons were killed while 30 others injured when a tourist bus fell off a bridge near Panchubati under the Sadar police station in Dhenkanal district on Monday.
As per reports, the bus named ‘Nilamadhab’ skidded into a canal after breaking the bridge railing.
The two persons who were killed were women. They were identified as Renubala Jena and Bijayalakshmi Swain of Ichhapur village in Kendrapada district.
All the injured were first admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here. Later, 15 of them were shifted to the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack as their conditions deteriorated.
Sources said there were 43 passengers in the bus who had gone for a tour to Balangir and Sambalpur from Ichhapur in Kendrapada district.
Police were investigating into the incident after sending the dead bodies for postmortem.
