Two women agricultural labourers died and two others were injured at Gondpali village in Agalpur block in the district on Monday morning when an 11-KV wire fell on them, while they were working in a farmland. Reports said a total of 12 agricultural labourers were carrying out paddy in the paddy field when the11KV line wire fell on them, leaving two dead and two others injured. The other people managed to escape unhurt.The deceased were identified as Rebati Sahu and Raibati Sahu.
The injured has been admitted to loisingha hospital for treatment.Meanwhile, palpable tension prevailed in the village after the incident.
“We demand adequate compensation to the deceased family and action against the contractor and officials responsible for this incident,” said trade union leader lalit Nayak.
