2 VSSUT Profs suspended, another sacked

Taking disciplinary action, Governor and Chancellor of Universities Prof Ganeshi Lal on Saturday suspended two professors of the Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) in Sambalpur and dismissed another for launching a protest demanding ouster of university Vice-Chancellor Atal Choudhuri.

Prof TR Das was sacked and Profs Dr Pandav Patra and Dr Pradeep Das were suspended for their involvement in the agitation against the VC. The Governor also served show-cause notices to as many as 15 agitating teachers of the university asking them to submit their replies by August 17.

The action was taken on the basis of the recommendations of the Department of Skill Development and Technical Education.

It may be pointed out that the faculty members of the university have been staging a stir since as far back as July 17 demanding ouster of the VC accusing him of a lackadaisical attitude towards development of the university.

The agitating faculty members allege that no developmental work has been done in the university ever since Choudhuri joined as its VC in January 2018.
