2 swine flu cases detected in BBSR

After a gap of two years, two persons in the State capital have tested positive for the highly-contagious swine flu. While one of them is a 38-year-old man, the other is a 28-year woman.

Both of them are undergoing treatment at a private hospital and their health condition is stable, said the Health Department on Friday.

But surprisingly, both the patients don’t have any recent travel history.

“Usually the State witnesses two peaks of swine flu, one before the monsoon and another in winter season. However, there is nothing to panic. The Government is fully prepared to meet any kind of eventualities arising out of the situation,” said Public Health Director Niranjan Mishra.

Swine flu, also known as the H1N1 virus infection, is a strain of an influenza virus that causes symptoms similar to the regular flu.. Like other strains of the flu, H1N1 is highly contagious, allowing it to spread quickly from person to person.
