The Boudh police have arrested two more persons for their alleged complicity in the Boudh lawyer murder case, taking the total number of arrested persons to six.
The two, identified as Banamali Sahoo and Kiranbala Sahoo, were arrested from the Baramunda area in Bhubaneswar on Friday evening.
The police had earlier arrested four more persons in connection with the case from Raikia in Kandhamal district on Friday morning. They are Duryodhan Sahoo, his mother Kunti Sahoo, Uma Sahoo and another relative Tripurari Sahoo.
While Duryodhan and Uma are the main accused in the case, Kunti was arrested in connection with a case in 2004. Police were investigating into the matter to find out Kunti’s involvement in this case, police said.
It may be noted that lawyer Hemant Sahoo, also a BJP leader, had been hacked to death at Bahira village under the Baunsuni police station in Boudh district on Tuesday morning. Sahoo was attacked with sharp weapons by some assailants while he was on a morning walk. He died on the spot.
lawyers had resorted to a cease-work on Friday demanding immediate arrest of the culprits involved in Hemant’s murder. Judicial activities were badly hit due to the Statewide stir.
Police suspect past enmity over a land dispute to be the motive behind the gruesome murder of the young lawyer.
According to sources, Hemant was a prosecution witness in his uncle murder in 2004.
