The Baleswar Cyber police have arrested two more persons from New Delhi in connection with the duping a telecom officer of the district of Rs 30 lakh through honeytrap
The arrested persons were identified as Emmaunel Nnamani (35), resident of Abuja in Nigeria and his wife T Suchim Tikhir (32), resident of Kiphire, Nagaland. They were nabbed from Madan Garhi in Delhi and produced in a court before being brought to Baleswar on transit remand.
The police seized a car, two laptops and passports from them.
Earlier, the cyber wing of the Baleswar police had arrested a Nigerian youth from Delhi on charges of luring the Balia-based resident into a honey trap and extorting money from him.
Then, the police had seized two mobile phones, one laptop with VISA, a passport from the accused, who was identified as Samson Imoko Alika.
The victim had lodged a complaint on January 13, 2022, alleging he had been honey trapped and duped of Rs 30 lakh.
According to the complaint, he first came in contact with a woman from the United Kingdom through Facebook and then they exchanged texts on WhatsApp.
Then the woman informed him of sending some costly gifts. When the gifts reached Delhi airport, Suchim identified himself as a Customs Officer and asked the victim to pay custom charges to receive the gifts. The victim kept on sending lakh after lakh in phases to receive the gifts but did not get the gifts. Only then did he realise that he had been duped.
