2 months after, attacker of PHC doc held

Male Health Worker of Basudevpur PHC under the Champua PS Debendra Behera, who had assaulted PHC Medical Officer Dr Fakir Mohan Naik, was arrested and court-forwarded by police on Saturday.

The Keonjhar CDMO had transferred accused Behera to the Anandapur PHC on the ground of misbehaviour to ANM and ASHA Workers some months back before bringing him back to the Basudevpur PHC. After his transfer to Basudevpur, Behera took it as victory over the Medical Officer, on whose recommendation he had been transferred to Anandapur.

Further, Behera always put pressure on the doctor to make payment of his salary for the duration of working at Anandapur which was not possible because of want of work statement available from the Anandapur PHC.

lastly, he produced a forged work statement before the Basudevpur PHC to prepare his salary, but when the doctor came to know of the fact after verifying the matter, Behera assaulted the doctor asking the latter why he had recommended the grievances of the ANM and ASHA Workers to the CDMO for which he had been transferred and his salary was held up.

After the incident, Dr Naik had registered an FIR against Behera at the Champua PS; and after two months of his absconding, he was arrested and court-forwarded, informed Champua PS IIC Sumeet Soren.
