Two Maoists, including a woman, were killed in a gunfight with police personnel in Kandhamal district on Thursday evening.
Official sources said that when SOG and DVF personnel were carrying out a combing operation in a forest area, the Leftwing extremists opened fire at them. In retaliation, the security personnel fired at the Maoists. Later, the security personnel recovered two bodies of Maoists.
Besides, the security personnel seized an INSAS rifle, a carbine and two country-made weapons from the spot.
Notably, on July 5, the security personnel had also gunned down four Maoists in Kandhamal district.
