Police on Wednesday arrested and court-forwarded two aides of an antisocial serving as undertrial in the Alipingala Sub-Jail while taking extortion money from a contractor here.
They were identified as Sanjaya Rout and Susanta Nayak of the Raghunathpur area. Reports said a contractor, who has taken up a RD project, recently received a call in which the caller instructed him to pay extortion money to his two aides on Tuesday. The police tracked the mobile number and found that the call was from the sub-jail. Being informed that the contractor was planning to pay the demanded money to the two goons the police rushed to the Sikhar Ghat under Naugaon block and arrested them on the basis of contractor’s FIR.
