The inmates of two shelter homes of Good News India at B Sitapur and Chandragiri in Gajapati district were handed over to their parents by the district administration on Wednesday.
Till now 199 inmates have been handed over to their parents. But still 53 inmates are still residing at the shelter home at Chandragiri, informed district Child Protection Officer Arun Kumar Tripathy.
Notably, after reports of abuse of the inmates of Good News India shelter home at Dhenkanal, the organisations centres in Gajapati came under the scanner of the district administration.
Three days ago, a six-member team of the district administration conducted a raid at the Paralakhemundi centre and seized various documents. It was ascertained that the guidelines for hostels of the Government were flouted.
Therefore the district administration expedited the process of handing over the inmates to their parents. In the Paralakhemundi hostel 159 inmates were lodged. Out of which 143 were minors and 16 were adults.
Similarly, out of the 109 inmates at the Chandragiri hostel 56 minors were handed over to their parents on the day, informed the Child Protection Officer.
