Two girls died of severe burn injuries they received when their house in Keonjhar district caught fire on Friday afternoon. Police sources said the fire was caused by an electric short circuit. According to reports, when the fire erupted in the house, the duo, identified as lusy Munda (2) and her cousin Subhadra Munda (7) of Basudevpur village under the Keonjhar Sadar police station limits, was sleeping in their house. By the time their neighbours rescued them, they had been critically injured with many parts of their bodies burnt. While being rushed to a hospital, the younger one died on the way, while the elder succumbed to her injuries in the hospital a little later, sources said.
