Additional District Judge Rekha Prasad on Wednesday awarded 12 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) and imposed a fine of `1 lakh each on two persons for illegal ganja trading.
Convicted Satrughna Dalai (22) of Dhadiamba Gaon under the Mohana police station and Manoj Swain of Begunia in Khordha district would undergo imprisonment for one year more if they fail to pay the fine amount.
The Judge convicted the two after examining five witnesses.
On April 4, 2012, when a joint team of Excise and Intelligence departments was patrolling on Tapta Pani and Digapahandi roads, the officials intercepted a car and seized 285 kg of ganja.
The squad also arrested the duo and later forwarded them to court.
