Special Fast Track Court Judge AN Maharana on Thursday awarded seven years of Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) and a fine of Rs 15,000 to Kumar Purohit of Brahmapur and Deepak Satpathi of Bhanjanagar for kidnapping and raping a minor girl in August 18, 2009.
The duo had kidnapped the girl while she was returning from her college and later taken her to Brahmapur, Puri and Cuttack. They also attempted to send the girl to Howrah. later, police rescued the minor from Telengapentha, Cuttack. The Judge convicted the duo accused after examining 18 witnesses.
