The Fakir Mohan University’s authorities have dismissed two of its staff for tampering marks of some students under its distance education system.

They are Samarballav Bhoi, a contractual lecturer, and Dhirendra Patra, a junior clerk engaged through outsourcing.

While Bhoi had been teaching library and Information Science besides looking after the MCA, PGDCA and BCA, Patra was working as a dealing assistant in the Examination Section.

After receipt of an allegation, the authorities  conducted an inquiry by a committee headed by the Controller of Examinations of the university.

It was found that, the mark of a student had been increased from 18 to 81 and of another student from 07 to 70. The duo had allegedly taken around `20,000 to increase the marks.

“The marks of the students were verified from the mastersheet. The committee found tampering of marks. It also found Samarballav Bhoi  and Dhirendra Patra guilty. The VC took action against them,” said Registrar Munish Chandra Adhikary.
