Carcasses of a female elephant and a calf were found near Rabagaon village in Keonjhar district on Monday. Getting information, forest officials along with Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) reached the spot and ordered an inquiry into the matter. However, the cause behind the death of elephants was yet to be ascertained. Sources said locals spotted the two elephant carcasses in the forest near Rabagaon village under the Keonjhar Forest Division in the morning and informed forest officials. Acting on it, the DFO and a team of forest officials visited the spot. "We are verifying the matter from different angles. The postmortem report would shed light on deaths", said.
