In its efforts to take administrative reforms to next level, the State Government has notified integration of Directorate of Mines and Directorate of Geology with the Steel and Mines Department.

“The integration of the two directorates will bring greater efficiency in administration and improve the delivery of public services,” said an official of the department.

“There would be a single file system through the Odisha Secretariat Workflow Automation System (OSAWS) and these two composite directorates would process the files using OSWAS System,” read the notification.

Necessary unified Budget provision for the integrated department would be made from the next Financial Year, 2020-21, said sources.

However, after integration, the directorates would continue to function in their respective locations, the notification said.

Earlier on August 21, 2019, the Department of General Administration and Public Grievance issued a resolution in this regard for integration of directorates with respective department.

“After integration, proposals referred by the directorates would not be required to be re-initiated or re-examined de novo in the department,” said the official.
