The seventh edition of two-day Odishi Nrutya Samman Utsav at the Rabindra Mandap here concluded on Monday.
From this year, Nrutyangana, the host of the festival, has started honouring two journalists working in the field of art and culture. This year, Pradeep Pattanayak and Manaranjan Mohanty were felicitated.
The inaugural evening witnessed group presentations by the students of Nrutyangana. The items were “Sthai”, “Bajrakanti Pallavi” and “Vande Utkal Janani…”. Noted vocalist Shiva Ratha struck the right chord presenting some ghazals.
The concluding evening kicked off with “Panchadevi” essaying the characteristics of Durga, Kali, laxmi, Saraswati and Padmavati. The disciples of Guru Subash Chandra Swain were brilliant in lyrical body movements and stage management. The juniors of the institution were excellent in Sambalpuri and patriotic song “Jai Ho…”.
Next came Bharatnatyam exponent Revathi Srinivasraghaban from Mumbai. Revathi, who has been running Nrityaranjani Fine Arts Academy in Mumbai for 27 years, presented Tillana and an abhinaya on Jayadev’s Astapadi.
