Nuapada SP Rahul Jain on Saturday suspended two Constables working with the Boden police on the charges of dereliction of duty.
Manohar Nag and Peskar Nag were placed under suspension after two middlemen arrested for allegedly trafficking migrant labourers managed to escape on December 17. A total of 15 migrant labourers, including two children, from Bhatapani village under the Sinapali police limits had been rescued while being trafficked to Hyderabad. Acting on a tipoff, the Boden police on December 15 raided a house in Dahanapali village, where the labourers were kept before being taken to Hyderabad.
Based on the information provided by the labourers, the police arrested Baishnab Majhi and Rupa Majhi from Kendulkona village and forwarded them to the Sinpali court. On the way to the court, the two accused escaped.
A police official said Rupa has been nabbed, but the whereabouts of Baishnab were yet to be ascertained.
