The Industrial police have arrested two Bangladeshi nationals who were trying to avail passports by submitting forged documents in a mobile passport camp being held at the CIPET campus at Somnathpur on Sunday. Police said besides the two in the custody, the mastermind and two others managed to escape from the camp and are still at large.

The arrestees were identified as Sk Mafzul (42) and Sk Riazuddin (40) of village Kadrain, under the Singla police station of Basta block in the district. They have been booked under various sections of IPC, 12 of Passport Act and 14(a) of Foreign National Act.

“Zahid Khan and two others fled from the camp. Zahid is the master mind, who used to facilitate the illegal Bangladeshi nationals in getting the passports. Efforts are on to nab them and unearth the racket,” said Industrial PS, IIC Paresh Rout. Rout said the accused persons possessed Adhar Cards and they had been residing in Mumbai for the last 22 years. Subsequently, through online correction they changed their address from Mumbai to Basta area.  Regional Passport Officer Digbijoy Giri said “during verification, the accused couldn’t answer satisfactorily, which raised suspicions. Zahid ran away from the camp while two others were nabbed,” said Giri.
