Police have arrested two persons allegedly involved in illegal trading of fake gold conches in Maidalpur in Nabarangpur district. Police also seized a fake gold conch from their possession.

A few days ago, one Rabindra Mirgan of Chandrapur under the Maidalpur police limits had brought a fake gold conch and sold it to one Vidyasagar Dubey of Betul district in Madhya Pradesh and received Rs 6 lakh as advance. This illegal transaction was held in Kondagaon village in Chhattisgarh.

Later, Vidyasagar knew he was sold a fake gold conch. He and his associates kidnapped Rabindra and took him to Madhya Pradesh. After two days, Vidyasagar telephoned Rabindra's wife and asked her to repay Rs 6 lakh to him. He even threatened to kill Rabindra if she would not pay Rs 6 lakh.

Earlier, Rabindra's wife had filed a plaint in the Maidalpur police station regarding Rabindra's missing. Police formed a team and rushed to Betul district to nab Vidyasagar and Rabindra. Finally, police arrested both from village Chichali in Betul district and brought them to Maidalpur on Saturday and forwarded them to court here.

Police are investigating the case further and more persons involved in it would be arrested soon, said Papdahandi SDPO Aditya Sen.
