The Commissionerate police on Saturday arrested two persons involved in selling of brown sugar in the city and recovered 52 grams of the contraband and cash of Rs1.07 lakh from their possession.
The two identified as Barun Kumar Rout alias Pikuna and Sisir Kumar Rout alias Sisir are residents of the laxmisagar area.
Acting on a tipoff, a police team led by laxmisagar police station Inspector-in-Charge Bharat Sahoo laid a trap and nabbed the duo.
Sources said the police got reliable information about Pikuna’s business a week back, following which the cops kept a close vigil on the movements of the two.
After being confirmed about the business, the police team conducted a raid on a house in Routsahi here and arrested the two. Police seized 30 grams of brown sugar and Rs1.02 lakh from the Pikuna and 22 grams of drug and Rs5,000 from Sisir.
The accused were sent to jail after a local court rejected their bail applications.
