Police on Sunday solved the mystery behind the death of the youth Rashmiranjan Swain, whose body had been found from a pond at Jajanga village under the Tirtol police station in the district on October 22.

Besides, police also arrested two persons who had taken “supari” to kill Swain.

Police said Swain was harassing a woman of the same locality.  The youth also tried to barge into the house of the woman. After the woman’s husband who is working in Mumbai came to know about the matter, he warned the Swain to keep away from his wife.

But the youth continued to harass the woman despite the warnings.

Later, the woman’s husband planned to eliminate Swain. Following which, he gave the contract to one Jagannath Das of Mulu village under the Balikuda police station to eliminate Swain.

As per the plan, on October 22, Jagannath along with his associate Rakesh Muduli called Rashmi near the village pond. Then they consumed liquor with Swain and killed him with a sharp weapon. Then the accused persons dumped his body in the pond.

Police arrested the duo and seized a weapon used in the crime, a motorcycle, one mobile phone and Rs 27,000 in cash. A police team also left for to Mumbai to nab the prime accused in the case.
