The election for office bearers of Ganjam Lawyers Association was conducted on March 25. Against the Bar Council approved strength of 1,516 eligible voters, 1,338 voters participated in the election.
Minati Rath won as the president and became the first woman to win the post of the lawyers’ body. While Siba Narayan Sahu was elected as secretary, M Chandra Shekhar won as vice president and Tapas Ranjan Sahu was elected as assistant secretary.
Six candidates contested for the post of president, while the real contest was between Rath and Sudhanshu Shekhar Panda. Rath got 423 votes, while Panda finished second with 335 votes.
