Even as 19 days have elapsed and locals are eagerly waiting to know the truth behind suicides of former Parala palace manager Ananga Manjari Patra and her three siblings, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Crime Branch probing the incident is yet to find out any clue.

The six-member SIT has sit silent after visiting Parlakhemundi, collecting samples and sending some articles seized from the house of Patra to the State Forensic laboratory for viscera test. After conducing first round of investigation, it has not done much progress in the second round, lamented locals.

According to information, the police have registered five cases, two on allegations of house-arrest of Gajapati Gopinath Narayan Deo and usurp of palace properties and three relating to suicides of former Parala palace manager Patra and her siblings, Bijaylaxmi, Sanjay and Santosh.

It may be noted that while Ananga, Bijayalaxmi and Sanjay were found dead in their house, Santosh succumbed at the MKCG Hospital later.

So far, it has recorded statements of princess Kalyani Gajapati, former MlA K Narayan Rao and Ananga’s brother Amulya Patra and Purnima Patra and some palace staff. Besides, the team had gone to Chennai to record statement of the Maharaj, who is undergoing treatment at the Apollo Hospitals there for multiple injuries, but failed to do so as the Gajapati couldn’t speak.

When contacted, SDPO Utkal Ranjan Das said, “The Crime Branch DG is directly looking into the sensitive case and he has no information regarding the probe,”
