Housing and Urban Development Minister Pushpendra Singh Deo on Friday said the State Government is mulling to give Notified Area Council (NAC) status to 18 small towns soon.
Singh Deo said this while replying to a question of BJD member Padmanav Behera in this regard in the State Assembly.
The Minister said proposals from respective district Collectors have reached the Government to upgrade small towns like Ranapur, Champua, Kakatpur, Sakhigopal, Brahmagiri, Baliguda, Betanati, Salepur, Binjarpur, Dharmasala, Chandikhol, Kukudahandi, Dhamara, Muniguda and Banei towns to NACs.
The State Government will prepare plans for the upgradation of small towns under the Small and Medium Town Development scheme to provide basic urban amenities to the netizens, Singh Deo said, adding that the Government has already given 10 NACs the status of municipalities.
