A free health checkup camp was organised by MMI Narayana Hospital of Raipur at Khariar. As many as 175 persons underwent check-up by a team of three specialist doctors.

ECG and Echo Cardiography were done on 65 persons, eight of whom were children. Two persons who were found to be in critical condition were advised for further treatment. “We feel very happy to provide service to the people of Odisha as we belong to the State,” said Dr Padhi, who is a leading cardiologist in Chhattisgarh.

A Press meet, the organisers informed that the camp would be conducted again in March where a multispecialty team of doctors will attend. “We are also ready to give time in the Government medical colleges and hospitals in Odisha, but there is no scope. I am ready to come to Burla once every week and conduct at least 20 cardiac procedures per month if given an opportunity to serve the people,” said Dr Padhi.

The next health camp at Khariar will be attended by neurosurgeon and orthopedics etc. “We have heard that most of the people are affected here with kidney diseases. So we have decided to include a nephrologist in our next camp,” said the organisers.

When the state of health services in the Government hospital of Odisha is in doldrums, the step taken by MMI is very encouraging” said Manoj Tiwary, one of the local organisers.

“It was one of our activities under Corporate Social Responsibilities (CRS). life of 30 per cent of the patients suffering from cardiac diseases can be saved if this camp is organised regularly,” said MMI Assistant Manager Pankaj Mishra.
