As many as 56 Maoists, including 17 from Malkangiri district’s Mathili area, have surrendered before the Chhattisgarh Police, sources said on Thursday.
The 17 Ultras from Odisha surrendered before the IG of Police, Bastar in the neighbouring State.
In another development, at least 19 Maoist supporters surrendered before the Malkangiri SP Mitrabhanu Mohapatra at the district police headquarters on Friday.
Notably, around 265 Maoist sympathisers have already surrendered before the Malkangiri police in the last week. The recent spate of surrenders is seen as a major blow to the Maoist movement in the district.
