Police rescued 17 children from an illegal Madrasa at Jajpur Road on Friday.
“We rescued 17 children from the Madrasa running without valid documents. The district unit of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) is now looking after the rescued children. As per a written order of the district Collector, we sealed the illegal Madrasa after rescuing the children,” said Jajpur Road police station IIC Sishir Kumar Mishra.
Collector SK Mallick said, “The district administration has ordered immediate closure of the illegal Madrasa after the children were rescued. An inquiry into the activities of the institution has also been ordered. Illegal Madrasas are those which are run without the recognition of the State Government and, hence, are not entitled for any aid from the State.”
