The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued a demand notice of Rs 13.6 lakh to 17 organisations for putting up unauthorised hoardings, which were removed during enforcement drive recently.
As per regulations, certificate cases would be filed if the organisations fail to pay the dues within seven days. The civic body would collect a removal charge of Rs 5,000 per hoarding for 100-sq ft size and Rs 7,000 for bigger sizes.
Notices have been issued to Java Technocrat, Sipra Academy, Kalinga Academy, Arihant Academy, IBT, HDFC Bank, ABACUS, Veta, Studio-11, Cognitive Point, NICET, Endeavor, Pragnya, Chanakya, Disha, Kensoft and DAV Public School Palaspalli, among others.
BMC Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Srimanta Mishra said, “If organisations fail to pay dues within seven days of issue of notices, the BMC will be forced to impose the stringent Orissa Public Demand Recovery (OPDR) Act 1962 and attach property and bank accounts.”
Meanwhile, different enforcement squads of BMC continued joint action over the rooftop hoardings along various major stretches and those especially coming under the 40 km priority corridor for the coming World Cup Hockey tournament.
While 13 hoardings were brought down in the Chandrasekharpur area alone on Wednesday, many others were demolished along Sishu Bhawan-Vani Vihar Square and CRP Square-Unit VIII DAV Public School Road. The eviction drive would continue in coming days as well.
