A 16-year-old boy, Tulasi Rohidas, of Sarbahal Para was shot dead by a group of miscreants on Sunday afternoon near Sarasmal chhak on the Jharsuguda bypass road.

Tulasi with bullet injuries in his head was first brought to the District Headquarters Hospital. As his condition deteriorated, he was referred to the Burla medical where he died late on Sunday night.

Tension prevailed in his village as some locals attacked the house of the key suspect Raja Das. The mob ransacked Raja’s shop and brutally injured his father Manoj Das.

Two platoons of police force were deployed in the area to check any possible law and order situation.

Jharsuguda SDPO BK Nanda assured the residents that the police would investigate the allegation that Raja and his other associates had fired at Tulasi. The Jharsuguda Town police have registered a case and detained two persons in suspicion and also seized a car and a country-made pistol from them.
