The police seized 16 handmade live bombs at Kahneipur Chhak on National Highway-215 under the Jajpur Road police station on Saturday evening and arrested a man on the charge of carrying the bombs in an auto-rickshaw.
The arrested person was identified as Ananta Kumar Swain of village Dobandia under the Mahanga police station in Cuttack didtrict. He was carrying the bombs from his village to Rajachandrapur in Keonjhar district. He was booked under Section 9(B) of the Indian Explosives Act and 353 of IPC.
The police defused the bombs by putting them in water. The accused was produced in court at Jajpur Town on Sunday. The court rejected his bail application and remanded him to jail custody.
