More than 1,500 children in the State are affected by thalassemia, with the Khodhga district having 400 numbers of children affected by the disease, said social welfare organisation Shradha Foundation chairman Manas Ranjan Mishra at a blood donation camp held here recently.
While the Blood Banks in the State have been reeling under acute shortage of blood, thalassemia-affected children are facing problems due to this, rued Mishra.
Keeping this in view, the foundation in association with the Mohini Pramila Bruddhashram here organised a blood donation camp, where 20 units of blood were collected and provided to the Capital Hospital Blood Bank.
Among others, Blood Bank Director Dr Debasis Mishra and centurion blood donor Gopi Mohan Patniak were present.
