As many as 150 villagers were taken ill after having a wedding feast in Ranibasan village under Bhograi block in Baleswar district on Thursday night.
They had vomiting and dysentery soon after the feast. They were rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Jaleswarpur and a hospital at Bada Sarisa.
“Villagers suffered from diarrhoea due to food poisoning. So far, 150 people are being treated, of whom intra-veinous fluid has been administered to about 40 of them,” informed the treating physician.
A medical team was deployed at a temporary camp to treat thepatients in the Aanganwadi Centre of Ranibasana. Reportedly, the bride and her groom also fell ill after eating the food.
