A 15-year-old girl was allegedly killed by her neighbour over a dispute for non-payment of interest amount to the victim here in Subasnagar slum in the Dumuduma area under the Khandagiri police limits. The deceased was identified as Prakasini Sahoo.
According to the victim’s mother Sarojini Sahoo, one Sanjukta Behera, their neighbour, had taken Rs 1,000 from Prakasini three months ago as a loan with an assurance that the loan would be repaid in three months with interests.
“Today, Sanjukta returned the loan amount of Rs 1,000 with two months’ interest. When my daughter asked for last month’s interest Sanjukta along with his family members attacked my daughter on her head with sticks,” alleged Sarojini.
She said, “Following the attack, I came to the Khandagiri police station for lodging a complaint. When I returned home, I found that my daughter had died.” The Khandagiri police sent the body postmortem and started investigation into the incident.
