Four days after they were rescued from a New Delhi-based children’s home, the fifteen minor children, including five girls, arrived at their native place in Rayagada district’s Muniguda area on Saturday.

According to reports, Sarala Sethi, an NGO worker, had sent 18 minor children from several villages under Muniguda and Chandrapur blocks to New Delhi while assuring their family of providing them with good care and quality education. These children were later sent to Avenger, a missionary organisation at Kamla Nagar in North Delhi. However, instead of taking care of the children or their education, the organisation allegedly engaged them in household chores and tough manual jobs.Three boys out of these children managed to escape and return to their villages to narrate the plight of the ret 15 children. Accordingly, their families lodged a complaint with the Muniguda police and the Rayagada Child Welfare Committee.

Acting on the complaint, police detained Sethi on April 24 and enquired about the children from her. Basing on her information, the police sought help from the Delhi Child Welfare Committee to get the children rescued. The children were rescued from the custody of the organisation on April 29. Reports said the rescued children came from Delhi by the Samata Express and arriveed at Muniguda on Saturday afternoon.
