As many as 14,920 prisoners, including 580 women prisoners, were staying in all 91 jails across the State as on February 28, 2015, informed Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in the State Assembly on Monday. In a written reply of a query put by Memer Priyadarshi Mishra, the Chief Minister said the capacity of 91 jails in the State is 18,012, which includes 1,641 for women prisoners. Patnaik said there are no proposals for establishment of an Open Air Jail for the women prisoners in the State.
