As many as14 APR constables were suspended by the Rourkela police on Friday allegedly for their indiscipline.
They had created a brawl recently in a party over shortage of food hosted by Rourkela police on the Police Foundation Day.
The police had organised the Badkhana party on April 6 at Reserve police line here. All police officials, including Rourkela Superintendent of Police, were present. When the party was about to finish, one constable had started complaining about shortage of food and further sought to know when the specific fund was available for Badkhana, why there was not enough food.
This led to a brawl with the in-charge of the store. Amid this one constable slapped the other. Soon, groups supporting each of the two in the fight started arguing and quarrelling.
After the intervention of the senior police officials, the tense situation was resolved. Rourkela SP Anirudh Singh ordered an inquiry into the incident and suspended the errant constables.
The suspended ones were identified as Sunil Pradhan, Rajesh Roshan Moharana, Amresh Barik, Prakash Ekka, Dharanidhar Palai, Manoranjan Sagar, Manoj Naik, Himanshu Sekhar Mohanty, Damabarudhar Sethi, Chabin Sahu, Sachin Patel, Uday Tiru, Keshav Chandra Behera and Maksius Danguar.
