Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday approved posts for 14 new police personnel, including two Inspectors, eight Sub-Inspectors and four Constables, to be stationed at the Dhamra Port for immigration purposes. They would be appointed to the Immigration Check Post (ICP) at the Dhamara Port.
The State Government has created the new posts to take over the immigration functions after the declaration of the ICP at the port by the Government of India. Earlier the port authorities had requested the Government on May 6 for setting up the ICP. A similar request from the Gopalpur Port authorities has also been pending since February 8, 1996. A large number of foreign ships having foreign crews have been coming to these ports.
