In view of the explosion in coronavirus cases in nieghbouring West Bengal, the Odisha Government on Thursday announced mandatory 14-day institutional or paid quarantine for people coming to Odisha from there by road or air.
The decision was taken after reports of Triple Mutant variant of the virus found in West Bengal. The variant is said to be highly contagious.
Those who have received two doses of vaccine and have RTPCR negative report would be allowed home quarantine for 14 days, Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra said.
“Any person who has been successfully vaccinated (two doses) and produces certificate to the effect or tested negative in RT-PCR test (report to be produced) within 48 hours of entering Odisha, may be allowed home quarantine for 14 days” Mahapatra said.
“However, in case of non-compliance of the Covid protocols and home quarantine guidelines issued by Union Health Ministry and the State Health Department, such persons would be quarantined in institutional facilities for 14 days,” added Mahapatra.
The district Collectors of Baleswar and Mayurbhanj were directed to put Border Check Posts (BCPs) on all inter-State roads along the West Bengal border with immediate effect.
