As many as 1,368 doctor posts are lying vacant in different block and district level hospitals across the State, informed Health and Family Welfare Minister Pratap Jena in the State Assembly on Thursday.
In response to a question of BJD MlA Dr Pramod Kumar Mallick, the Minister stated that there are a total of 6,719 sanctioned doctor posts in such hospitals and, out of them, 5,351 are in position.
While there are 1,691 specialists doctor posts required to be appointed in DHHs, CHCs and PHCs in departments of medicine, paediatric, gynaecology and X-ray, only 730 are in position and the rest 961 are lying vacant, Informed the Minister.
