Around 13,000 people in Khordha, Jatni and Delang blocks have been badly-affected following a 200-feet breach in the right embankment of river Daya that occurred at 10 pm on Thursday night near Jorakani in the Jatni area.
Nearly 3,000 people of Pandiabili and Budhangara villages of Jatni block have been shifted to safer places by the administration. A free kitchen has been opened to provide them with cooked food, Deputy Relief Commissioner Pravat Ranjan Mohapatra told reporters.
The water flowing through the breach in the embankment has led to further swelling of the Rajua river, leading to extensive inundation in Brajamohanpur, Saradhapur, Hadapada, Narangarh, Ramchandi, Krushnapur, Raipur and lekhanpur villages under Khordha block.
