After a few days of lull, the scare of sheep killing by mysterious predators once again rocked Rayankapatna village in the Alipingala area of Jagatsinghpur district on Wednesday night.
Reports said as many as 13 rams and lambs were killed by the mysterious killer animals between 2 am and 3 am. The unidentified animals entered the cattle shed breaking open the bamboo door and killed the sheep belonging to Aparti Das of the village. It was suspected to be the attack of a group of predators.
Notably, nine sheep of Aparti had been killed 20 days ago under similar circumstances. Though locals had then staged a road blockade at Alipingal, no preventive measures were taken by the administration.
Villagers have renewed their threat to take to the streets if no preventive steps are taken by the administration as sheep rearing is their main source of livelihood.
