12th Raahgiri to showcase green cover theme in city

As the world is experiencing the ill effects of deforestation and urban environment becoming hotter with depleting green cover and increasing concrete jungles, the 12th Raahgiri on the enduing Sunday would focus on how to make the world greener.

City-based the Bakul Foundation with other organisations like the Centurion University would organise ‘flash mob’ during Raahgiri so that people would soon realise and discuss the issues among themselves.

Sujit Mohapatra of Bakul said, “Besides planning to organise flash mob, we would have activities awareness for awareness about tress and their effects on our environment.”

He said ‘Dedi luku’, a character representing ‘tree man’ in Kui language, would also be created by a volunteer and it would tour the entire Raahgiri venue.

While moving around the Raahgiri venue, the ‘Dedi loku’ would also allow others to take photos and ‘selfies’ so that they can go back with the memories with them with messages on forestation and making the world greener, he added.

With the World Health Day falling on April 7, Raahgiri would also have its central theme on health and on mental health as the problems like depression, schizophrenia and mental stress are affecting all sections of urban people spanning across all ages and economic groups.

City-based Nirmala Kruti Bikas Trust (NKBT) would come up with the art form ‘Rangoli’ to shift people’s awareness to better and healthy living and services linked to the health sector.
