Amid environmental pollution posing a serious threat to human existence, members of Rastra Nirman Abhijan (RNA) on Sunday celebrated Raksha Bandhan festival by planting trees and urging the locals to save nature. The RNA members led by its founder Matrudutta Mohanty tied a 12-meter-long rakhi to a century-old banyan tree at Deypur-based Banchha Kalpataru Bata Mahapurusa Pitha.Realising need of oxygen during Covid, the RNA started unique initiative by motivating locals for massive afforestation and preservation of forests.
According to Matrudutta Mohanty, it took at least six days to prepare rakhi by members with 36-meter-long clothes of three different colours and using 25 meters of lace.
