Additional Sessions Judge Sanjeev RanjanSamanta on Tuesday convicted 12 accused in a murder case and sentenced them to life imprisonment besides slapping penalty of Rs 50,000 each, in default another two years’ jail term.
The convicted included Ajay Palei, AkshayPalei, Dambarudhar Das, Kati Mahalik, DigbijayBarik, Satyaprakash Jena, SkSarfuddin, HarekrushnaMajhi, Kiran Das, RanjanMajhi, NiranjanMajhi and SkJubir Box. Another accused was acquitted.
On March 3, 2017, the convicts made an attack on Jayant Das and Satyaranjan Das when they were in a saloon of village Gabagaon due to previous rivalry. Jayant succumbed to the injuries while Satyaranjan recovered after medical treatment.
The accused were tried under Sections 302/307 and 120(b), 34 of IPC and 25 and 27 of the Arms Act.
