As many as 12 couples, who were fighting legal battles for long, were united in the Family Court here through reconciliation at a Rastriya lok Adalat held on Saturday.
The court disposed of as many as 25 cases on the day.
The reconciliations were undertaken under the supervision of Family Court Judge JM Behera. Counsellors Subhalaxmi Mohanty and Sibdas Kundu assisted in counselling the litigants.
After prolonged counselling by holding individual as well as joint session for the parties and convincing their parents and well-wishers some cases yielded positive results.
The cases ranging from divorce, maintenance to restitution of conjugal rights were amicably settled through reconciliation. “The spirit of Family Court is to unite the couples and restore the broken marital relationship. After persuasion we could succeed in uniting 12 couples. Their reunions were gladly accepted by the parents and family members,” said Judge Behera.
While nine of the reunited case were filed under section civil procedures the rest three were filed for seeking maintenance from their husbands.
Following dissensions between the couples due to various reasons including trivial issues marital discord surfaced which aggravated with the passage of time and the aggrieved had filed suits in the court.
However, through sustained counseling of the couples, the lost mutual trust and confidence revived and they agreed to reside under one roof for rest of their lives without digging the past and finding faults with each another.
