Even as the legal Services Day is to be observed across the State to offer help and support to the weaker and poor group of sections of people on Monday, a disabled person is crying for justice for nearly last one decade, thanks to the callous attitude of the police and State administration.

Binod Bihari Sahoo (72), founder of the city-based Odisha Association of Blind, was allegedly harassed by the fellow office-bearers. They even disconnected the water and power connections to his room in the association in 2003. Unable to bear the trauma, he left the association and living in a misery.

later, he lodged an FIR at the Kharavel Nagar police station in 2003. However, police did not register the plaint due to political pressure. Due to the persistent efforts of disability rights activists the plaint registered on March 19, 2014.

However, even after three years of registration of the FIR, the Kharvela Nagar police station officials are yet to submit a chargesheet. The victim urged the DGP to instruct Additional IIC of the Kharavel Nagar police station RN Mehera and the investigating officer to make prompt investigation.
